On 03/31/12, at approximately 1:58p.m. Platte Valley Fire (Station 37), and LaSalle Fire (Station 31) were dispatched to the report of a hay stack fire east of WCR 49 on WCR 34 at Horton’s feed lot. Platte Valley Fire units arrived on scene to a fully involved hay stack fire of 1,043, 1, 000lb hay bales measuring 300ft in length x 60ft wide. Additional resources were requested from Platte-Ville Gilcrest Fire, Southeast Weld Fire, and Ft. Lupton Fire. Approximately 35 firefighters were on scene. There were no structures threatened or injuries during the incident. It is believed the fire was started by a grinder operator.
